Sally Basser
Sally Basser is First Assistant Secretary, Office for the Arts, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. She is responsible for cultural policy, arts and cultural funding programs and relationships with arts statutory bodies and companies.
Sally has extensive experience in public policy, service delivery and organisational change in a range of areas including arts and culture, sport, children's services, child support, child protection and mental health. She has also worked as a ministerial adviser. Sally has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Canberra and a Bachelor of Social Work (First Class Honours) from the University of New South Wales. Sally also attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art for two years in the late 1970s.
National Cultural Policy
The Australian Government committed to the development of a new National Cultural Policy in the 2010 election. The National Cultural Policy will reflect the important role that arts and creativity play in the daily lives of all Australians and will help integrate arts and culture within our broader social and economic goals. Since the discussion paper on the National Cultural Policy was released in August, organisations, community groups and thousands of Australians – from all around the country and from many different backgrounds – have contributed valuable suggestions and feedback.
